Testimony Jaga

Salau Aliu Olayiwola, known professionally as Testimony Jaga, is a Nigerian Fuji and Afro-pop gospel artist born on March 9, 1987, in Ibadan, Oyo State. He is the 22nd of 27 children in his family and hails from Ijebu-Remo in Ogun State. His educational journey began at O and A Nursery and Primary School in Ogun State, followed by secondary education at Speed Ladder School. He briefly attended the University of Lagos but left to pursue a full-time career in music.

Initially involved in secular music, Testimony Jaga transitioned to gospel music in 2012. He pioneered the Street Gospel Movement, a ministry that combines music and social welfare services to spread the gospel in the streets of Lagos. His 2018 single “Igara (Boast)” gained significant attention, earning him the “Artist of the Year” award at the LIMA Awards in 2019. He performs in English, Yoruba, and Pidgin, with other notable tracks including “Take It,” “Jehovah,” and “Not Normal” featuring Akpororo.

Testimony Jaga’s personal journey includes overcoming legal challenges in 2011 when he was wrongfully arrested for alleged involvement in a car-snatching incident but was exonerated after four months. His resilience has fueled his commitment to his faith and music. In 2019, he became a brand ambassador for Revolution Plus Property and embarked on a UK tour titled “Testimony Jaga Live in UK” in 2021.
